リリースの背景
文部科学省の調査（※1）によると、日本の大学等に所属する常勤研究者のうち、外国人研究者が占める割合は5.1%に上ります。これは、大学等で研究活動に従事する常勤研究者のおよそ20人に1人に相当します。
According to a survey by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) (*1), international researchers account for 5.1% of full-time researchers at universities and other higher education institutions in Japan. This is equivalent to approximately one in every 20 full-time researchers engaged in research at such institutions.
科研費は国籍を問わず、所定の応募資格を有する研究者が申請でき、英語で作成した研究計画調書も受け付けられています。一方、研究内容を審査者に伝わる形で記述することや、公募要領・学内案内を理解することなど、申請準備には外国人研究者特有の負担が生じる場合があります。
Researchers of any nationality may apply for KAKENHI provided they meet the eligibility requirements, and research proposals written in English are also accepted. However, international researchers may face particular challenges during the application process, such as presenting their research clearly and persuasively to reviewers and understanding the application guidelines and internal instructions issued by their institutions.
実際、日本の国立大学1校に所属する人文・社会科学系の外国人若手研究者15名を対象としたインタビュー調査では、科研費等の外部研究資金の申請における課題として、言語障壁、情報収集の難しさ、研究者ネットワークの不足が指摘されています。科研費申請についても、専門性の高い内容を専門外の審査者にも伝わる平易な英語で表現することの難しさや、普段は英語で行っている研究を日本語に置き換えると内容のニュアンスが変わってしまうという声が報告されています（※2）。
ToraPlanでは、こうした言語面の負担を軽減し、日本で活動する多様な研究者の研究資金獲得を支援するため、科研費の研究計画調書作成サービスを英語に対応しました。
In fact, an interview study involving 15 early-career international researchers in the humanities and social sciences at a national university in Japan identified language barriers, difficulties in obtaining information, and limited researcher networks as key challenges when applying for external research funding, including KAKENHI. With regard to KAKENHI applications, participants also reported difficulties in explaining highly specialized research in clear and accessible English to reviewers outside their fields, as well as concerns that translating research normally conducted in English into Japanese could alter its original nuances (*2).
To reduce these language-related burdens and support researchers from diverse backgrounds working in Japan in securing research funding, ToraPlan has introduced English-language support for its KAKENHI research proposal writing service.

Users can complete the entire process in English, from creating an account to drafting and reviewing a research proposal for the FY2027 KAKENHI call.
令和9年度の研究計画書を英語で作成
チャット形式のUIから研究内容を入力し、参考文献もアップロードすることで、科研費の審査観点を踏まえた研究計画調書の草案を英語で作成することができます。
By entering their research details through a chat-based interface and uploading relevant literature, users can generate an English draft of their research proposal based on the KAKENHI review criteria.
添削機能を利用する外国人研究者へ英語でコメント
英語版の研究計画書をドラッグ&ドロップでアップロードし、審査区分と研究種目を選択することで、たった5分で文章添削が完了します。Wordのコメント機能を利用したユーザーへのフィードバックも英語で出力します。
Users can upload an English-language research proposal by drag and drop, select the relevant review section and KAKENHI category, and complete the review in just five minutes. Feedback is also provided in English using Microsoft Word’s comments feature.
低価格な利用料金
研究計画調書の作成・添削は、それぞれ、9,800円（税込）、4,980円（税込）でご利用いただけます。
ToraPlan's research proposal writing and review services are available for JPY 9,800 and JPY 4,980 (both prices include tax), respectively.
今後の展望
現在は、基盤研究(B)、基盤研究(C)、若手研究、挑戦的研究(萌芽)（※4）の研究計画調書に対応しています。
The service currently supports research proposals for KAKENHI Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (B), Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Early-Career Scientists, and Challenging Research (Exploratory) (*4).
今後は大学導入プラン用の大学管理ダッシュボードを作成予定です。
We also plan to develop an administrative dashboard for universities as part of our institutional plan.
