Historic Shohei Ohtani Tokyo Series Jersey to Be Featured at YouMeWe's 2026 Gala Ahead of Auction

Move With Purpose activation to connect jersey's return to Tokyo with youth empowerment programming

TOKYO — September 25, 2026 — YouMeWe, a Tokyo-based nonprofit focused on teen empowerment in orphanages, today announced that the Los Angeles Dodgers jersey worn by Shohei Ohtani during his historic first MLB game in Japan will be on display at the YouMeWe Gala 2026 on October 14, ahead of its closing bid on TheRealest.com on October 17.

 

The jersey is being brought to Tokyo through a collaboration with The Realest, the authentication and marketplace platform operating in partnership with the MLBPA.

Ohtani wore the jersey on March 18, 2025, at the Tokyo Dome, in the Tokyo Series opener that marked his first official MLB game played in Japan. It features the first-ever Gold MLB Logoman patch worn in a game, introduced in 2025 to honor MVP, Cy Young, and Rookie of the Year winners alongside the 2025 Tokyo Series emblem and a Fernando Valenzuela No. 34 memorial patch. The jersey is personally signed and inscribed by Ohtani and has been authenticated through MLB on-field authentication, SIA photo-matching, and Fanatics Authentic certification.

As part of the activation, YouMeWe will run a “Move With Purpose” program element for local youth — a movement challenge and up-close viewing designed to connect a milestone piece of baseball history to the organization's ongoing work with young people in Japan.

The jersey will remain on view through the Gala before bidding closes on TheRealest.com on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
