この度、UESHIMA MUSEUM（https://ueshima-museum.com）では、2025年6月21日(土)より、新コレクション展「創造的な出会いのためのテーマ別展示」を開催いたしますので、お知らせいたします。

当美術館では、「同時代性」をテーマに国内外の幅広いアーティストの現代アート作品のコレクションを行うUESHIMA MUSEUM COLLECTIONの700点を超える作品の中から、様々なテーマに沿って選び抜いた作品がご覧いただけます。2024年6月の開館以来、国内外の多くのメディアやSNSでも紹介され、注目を集めております。

第２回コレクション展となる本展では、2025年3月まで金沢の21世紀美術館の館長を務めていた長谷川祐子氏のキュレーションにより、展示内容を刷新いたします。また、ジェームズ・タレルのインスタレーション作品を常設展示として新たに公開いたします。

We are pleased to announce that UESHIMA MUSEUM (https://ueshima-museum.com) will hold a new collection exhibition, “Thematic Exhibition for Creative Encounters,” starting from June 21, 2025 (Sat).

Since its opening in June 2024, the UESHIMA MUSEUM COLLECTION has been presenting a wide range of artworks selected from more than 700 works of contemporary art by a wide range of artists from Japan and abroad under the theme of “contemporaneity” and in accordance with various themes, Since its opening in June 2024, the UESHIMA MUSEUM COLLECTION has been introduced by many domestic and international media and social networking services, and has attracted much attention.

This second exhibition of the collection will be renewed under the curatorial direction of Yuko Hasegawa, who served as the director of 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa until March 2025. In addition, an installation work by James Turrell will be newly exhibited as a part of the permanentcollection.

**UESHIMA MUSEUMについて**

UESHIMA MUSEUMは、UESHIMA MUSEUM COLLECTIONのオーナーである植島幹九郎の母校でもあり、「自調自考」を基本目標に国際的な視野や高い倫理観を重視した教育を行う事で高い評価を受けている、渋谷教育学園の敷地内に位置します。また、当美術館の建物は、1988年に設立され、翌年9月に当時の英国首相であった故マーガレット・サッチャー氏同席のもと開校式の行われたブリティッシュ・スクール・イン・東京が2023年8月まで利用していた建物をリノベーションの上、開館致しました。

**About UESHIMA MUSEUM**

UESHIMA MUSEUM is located on the grounds of Shibuya Kyoiku Gakuen, the alma mater of UESHIMA COLLECTION owner Kankuro Ueshima. It is highly regarded for its emphasis on international perspective and high ethical standards in education under the fundamental goal of "Seek and Think for Oneself." (“Jicho-Jiko”) The museum’s building, named “Ueshima Tower, Shibuya Kyoiku Gakuen”, was renovated from the former British School in Tokyo, which was established in 1988 and held its opening ceremony in September of the following year in the presence of the late British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. The British School in Tokyo was utilized until August 2023 and was reopened after renovation.

**創造的な出会いのためのテーマ別展示**

第２回コレクションは２階の常設部分を除いて、ほぼ展示替えとなります。

「同時代性」を核とする同コレクション、第１回は熱い抽象を中心に現代人の感情や人間性が表され、具象を通じた現代的なナラテイブや、コンセプチュアルアートが合わせて展示されていました。

今回は２階にジェームズ・タレルのインスタレーションが加わり、中心の細長いスペースがゲルハルト・リヒター展示ギャラリーとなります。また他の階では、多様な現代美術表現とユニークな出会いをしていただくため、グローバルに活躍する長谷川祐子氏のキュレーションにより、展示をすべて刷新しました。各階ごとにテーマを設定し、展示の流れをつくることで、作品同士のつながりが、見る人の想像力を刺激し、自由な解釈ができるように構成されています。

宇宙、ポップ、なごみの幾何学、賑やかなナラテイブ、愛とグリッチなど、の多彩なテーマ、渋谷の風景に開放された空間、浮遊感のある輝く白い床など変貌した展示室。進化するUESHIMA MUSEUMに是非おこしください。

**Thematic Exhibits for Creative Encounters**

The second collection will be mostly replaced by a new exhibition, except for the permanent part on the second floor.

The first exhibition in this collection, with “contemporaneity” as its core theme, focused on hot abstraction to express the emotions and humanity of contemporary people, while contemporary narrative through figuration and conceptual art were also on display.

This time, James Turrell's installation will be added to the second floor, and the long, narrow space in the center will become the Gerhard Richter exhibition gallery. On the other floors, all the exhibits have been revamped, curated by the globally acclaimed Yuko Hasegawa, in order to offer unique encounters with diverse contemporary art expressions. By setting a theme for each floor and creating a flow of exhibits, the connection between the works is designed to stimulate the viewer's imagination and allow for free interpretation.

The exhibition rooms have been transformed with diverse themes such as space, pop, soothing geometry, lively narration, love and glitch, etc., a space open to the Shibuya landscape, and a shining white floor with a sense of floating. Please visit the evolving UESHIMA MUSEUM.

UESHIMA MUSEUM COLLECTION創設者。1979年千葉県生まれ。1998年渋谷教育学園幕張高等学校卒業、東京大学理科一類入学。東京大学工学部在学中に株式会社ドリームキャリアを起業し、現在では事業家・投資家として多角的にビジネスを展開する傍ら、国内外のオークションハウスやギャラリーを渉猟。国内外一流作家から国内若手作家に至るまで幅広く、現代アート作品のコレクションを続けています。2024年、US版Artnews Top 200 collectors(その年に最もアクティブだった世界のスーパー・アートコレクター200人を紹介する特集)に選出されました。

**Kankuro Ueshima Profile**

Founder of "UESHIMA MUSEUM COLLECTION", born in Chiba prefecture, Japan in 1979. Ueshima graduated from Shibuya Kyoiku Gakuen Makuhari Senior High School in 1998, then enrolled in the Natural Sciences I at the University of Tokyo. While attending the Faculty of Engineering, he started his own business and has since developed a diversified business as an entrepreneur and investor.

**長谷川祐子 プロフィール**

元金沢21世紀美術館 館長(2021年4月-2025年3月) / 東京藝術大学名誉教授 / 総合地球環境学研究所客員教授

キュレーター／美術批評。京都大学法学部卒業。東京藝術大学美術研究科修士課程修了。水戸芸術館学芸員、ホイットニー美術館客員キュレーター、世田谷美術館学芸員、金沢21世紀美術館学芸課長及び芸術監督、東京都現代美術館学芸課長及び参事を経て、犬島「家プロジェクト」アーティスティック・ディレクター。文化庁長官表彰（2020年）、フランス芸術文化勲章（2015年）、ブラジル文化勲章（2017年）を受賞。これまでイスタンブール（2001年）、上海 (2002 年)、サンパウロ (2010 年)、シャルジャ（2013年）、モスクワ（2017年）、タイ（2021年）などでのビエンナーレや、フランスで日本文化を紹介する「ジャパノラマ：日本の現代アートの新しいヴィジョン」、「ジャポニスム 2018：深みへ―日本の美意識を求めて―」展を含む数々の国際展を企画。国内では東京都現代美術館にて、ダムタイプ、オラファー・エリアソン、ライゾマティクスなどの個展を手がけた他、坂本龍一、野村萬斎、佐藤卓らと「東京アートミーティング」シリーズを共同企画した。「森の芸術祭 晴れの国・岡山」（会期2024年9月28日〜11月24日）にてアートディレクターを務める。主な著書に、『キュレーション 知と感性を揺さぶる力』、『「なぜ？」から始める現代アート』、『破壊しに、と彼女たちは言う：柔らかに境界を横断する女性アーティストたち』『ジャパノラマ―1970年以降の日本の現代アート』『新しいエコロジーとアート 「まごつき期」としての人新世』など。

**Yuko Hasegawa Profile**

Former Director, 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa (April 2021-March 2025) / Professor Emeritus, Tokyo University of the Arts / Visiting Professor, Institute for Integrated Global Environmental Studies

She has served as a curator at Art Tower Mito (1989–93), visiting curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art (1992–93), curator at the Setagaya Art Museum (1993–99) and Artistic Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo(2016-March 2021). She is also Artistic Director of the Inujima Art House Project(2011- present). She completed a BA in Law at Kyoto University, and an MFA in Art History at Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music. She has been honored with the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, France (2015), the Ordem de Rio Branco, Brazil (2017), and Japan Commissioner for Cultural Affairs Award, the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Japan (2020).
