〜OISTスタートアップがバイオテクノロジーで、次世代クリーン燃料の生産基盤を構築〜

ライフタイムベンチャーズ（本社：神奈川県横浜市、沖縄オフィス：沖縄県恩納村、代表パートナー：木村亮介、國井紅秋）は、微細藻類バイオプロダクション技術を活用したSAF（持続可能な航空燃料：Sustainable Aviation Fuel）向け低炭素原料油の開発を手がけるアティエーラ株式会社（Atierra Inc.、代表：Shivani Sathish）が実施した総額6,000万円のプレシードラウンドのリードとして出資をし、株式会社優利グループ、津梁ファンド、及び複数のエンジェル投資家が参加しました。

アティエーラは、沖縄科学技術大学院大学（OIST）発のディープテック・スタートアップです。微細藻類バイオプロダクション技術をコアに、SAF製造向けの低炭素原料油を、より低コストかつスケーラブルな形で生産することを目指しています。

アティエーラは、代表のShivani Sathish氏を中心に、共同創業者のDaniel Yee氏らによって設立されました。微細藻類を用いたバイオプロダクションプラットフォームの確立を進めており、SAF製造に必要な、持続可能で価格競争力のある低炭素原料油の商用化を目指しています。こうした原料の供給不足は、SAFの普及拡大における重大なボトルネックであり、脱炭素化が困難な航空業界が抱える重要な課題の一つとなっています。

Lifetime Ventures Invests in Atierra, a Microalgae-to-Oil Startup Advancing Sustainable Aviation Fuel

Atierra Inc., a startup developing microalgae bioproduction technology for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) feedstocks, has closed a JPY 60 million pre-seed round. The round was led by the OIST-Lifetime Ventures Fund, with participation from Yuri Group, Shinryo Fund, and angel investors. The funding will support Atierra’s work to develop a scalable and cost-competitive pathway for producing low-carbon oil feedstocks from microalgae. 

Born out of the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST), Atierra was founded by CEO Shivani Sathish alongside co-founder Daniel Yee. The company is developing a microalgae bioproduction platform aimed at commercializing low-carbon oils for SAF production, addressing the limited availability of sustainable and cost-competitive feedstocks, a critical bottleneck to scaling SAF and one of the aviation industry’s hardest-to-abate decarbonization challenges.

With this investment, Atierra will focus on:

• Establishing and validating its microalgae bioproduction technology

• Building early partnerships across the SAF value chain

• Strengthening its intellectual property strategy

• Laying the groundwork for pilot deployment and its next equity financing round
