ActiveScaleオブジェクトストレージ事業のQuantumへの売却を発表
ウエスタンデジタルコーポレーション（NASDAQ：WDC、以下ウエスタンデジタル）は本日、WDC傘下のWestern Digital Technologies, Inc.がActiveScale™オブジェクトストレージ事業を、ビデオコンテンツや分散データの保存・管理におけるリーディングカンパニーのQuantum Corp. (NASDAQ: QMCO)に売却する最終契約を締結したことを発表しました。今回の契約により、ウエスタンデジタルのActiveScale製品の全ラインナップをQuantum社が取り扱うことになります。
ウエスタンデジタルは、ストレージシステム事業から撤退し、ストレージプラットフォームを中心としたデータセンターシステム事業の最適化を図るという戦略方針を発表しており、今回の発表はこれに沿った内容となります。昨年、ウエスタンデジタルは、IntelliFlash™製品シリーズをDDN社に売却しました。
