ウエスタンデジタルとIngrasysが長期提携を発表、 AIワークフロー向け高性能ファブリック接続型ストレージを共同開発

ウエスタンデジタル（NASDAQ:WDC）と世界最大の電子機器メーカーである鴻海精密工業（Foxconn Technology Group）の子会社であるIngrasysは本日、ストレージを内蔵した新しいフラッグシップTop-of-Rack（TOR）スイッチの共同開発に向けた戦略的提携を発表しました。この新しいTOR EBOF (Ethernet Bunch of Flash）は、ネットワークエッジで分散型ストレージを実現し、低レイテンシのストレージアクセスを可能にします。これにより、専用のストレージネットワークの必要性が減り、集中型ストレージアレイへの接続を最小限に抑えることができます。この共同開発では、IngrasyはウエスタンデジタルのRapidFlex™ NVMe-oF™ブリッジ技術を活用し、高密度なTOR EBOFを製造します。また、ウエスタンデジタルはIngrasysとともにアーキテクチャを設計し、クラウドサービスプロバイダー（CSP）およびストレージOEM向けのNVMe-oFベースの分散型ストレージソリューションの市場展開を主導します。 

今回の連携は、急成長を続けるAI市場における重要な節目となるものであり、AIワークフローの増大する需要に応えるため、ファブリック接続型分散ストレージの導入を加速させます。Ingrasysの優れたGPUサーバー製造技術と、ウエスタンデジタルのNVMe-oFおよびファブリック接続型ストレージの専門性を組み合わせることで、両社は大規模なAIの課題に取り組むデータセンター向けに、効率性、拡張性、パフォーマンスを新たなレベルに引き上げる、より柔軟な分散型インフラストラクチャの実現します。 

2027年の提供開始を目指しているIngrasysのTOR EBOFは、ネットワークとストレージ技術を最先端の形で統合したソリューションです。この革新的なTORスイッチは、100GイーサネットとE3.S/L SSDデバイス用のNVMe™/PCIe® Gen6ドライブスロットに対応する、ウエスタンデジタルの次世代RapidFlexファブリックブリッジデバイスによって実現される組み込みストレージ機能を備えています。TORスイッチの中核には NVIDIA Spectrum™-4スイッチASICを搭載し、高性能なスイッチングを実現します。また、400/800GbEのケーブルオプションも備えており、将来のデータセンターのニーズにも対応する堅牢なソリューションとなっています。 

ウエスタンデジタルのRapidFlex NVMe-oFファブリックブリッジデバイスは、ファブリック接続型ストレージ分野における先進的なソリューションであり、現代のデータセンターに低消費電力、卓越したパフォーマンス、そして柔軟性を提供します。この製品は、広範なハードウェアアクセラレーションを基盤に設計されており、パフォーマンスパスからファームウェアを排除した唯一のNVMe-oFブリッジデバイスです。その結果、I/Oの読み取りおよび書き込みペイロードは最小限のレイテンシでアダプターを通過し、直接イーサネットに接続されます。この独自のアプローチにより、NVMe SSDsを分散型アーキテクチャにシームレスかつ高性能に統合することが可能になり、コンピューティングとは独立してストレージリソースを効率的に拡張できます。
