より多くの皆様にN-888ブランドの魅力を知っていただきたいという思いから、令和8年8月8日（土曜）に、新潟県内7会場・東京都2会場・大阪府1会場の計10会場にて、試飲販売会を開催いたします。 当日は各会場に弊社社員が常駐し、N-888および8周年記念酒についてご説明いたします。

Release of N-888 8th Anniversary Limited on August 8, 2026 — Limited Edition to Celebrate the 8th Anniversary of N-888

Niigata Meijo Co., Ltd. (Ojiya City, Niigata Prefecture) will release a limited-edition sake, N-888 8th Anniversary Limited, commemorating the 8th anniversary of its innovative sake brand N-888. On August 8, 2026 (the 8th year of Japan’s Reiwa era), a date marked by the symbolic repetition of “8,” the company will host simultaneous tasting events at 10 locations across Niigata, Tokyo, and Osaka.

A sake born from 1,200 trials — the story of N-888

N-888 was developed through an extensive series of 1,200 test brews, with the 888th batch coming closest to the ideal flavor profile. Its rich aromas (banana, pear) and light, refreshing flavors (strawberry, lychee) create a profile reminiscent of fine white wine, a contrast achieved solely through fermentation. This distinct character is supported by a proprietary brewing method established in collaboration with the National Institute of Technology, Nagaoka College.

Current lineup

The N-888 brand now features four core products showcasing different rice varieties and polishing ratios, along with seasonal expressions such as:

・ unpasteurized sake,

・ naturally carbonated sparkling sake,

・ and a hop-infused, beer-like style.

This commemorative release elevates N-888’s signature aromatic depth with brighter, fruit-forward notes and a juicy, grapefruit-like acidity. The result is a refreshing, vibrant sake best enjoyed well chilled.

Tasting events across Japan on August 8

To share the appeal of the N-888 brand with a wider audience, Niigata Meijo will hold tasting events at 10 venues: 7 in Niigata Prefecture, 2 in Tokyo, and 1 in Osaka. Company staff will be present at each location to introduce both N-888 and the anniversary edition.

Niigata Meijo Co., Ltd. was founded in 1938 by Nitaro Yoshizawa, the second-generation owner of a family business that produced the medicinal liqueur “Kina Saffron-shu” in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture. Today, our brewery is located in Ojiya City, Niigata—the birthplace of Nishikigoi, often referred to as “swimming jewels.”

The region’s pure spring water, which also nurtures Nishikigoi, is soft water ideally suited for sake brewing, giving Niigata Meijo’s sake a gentle, clean, and refined character.
