株式会社EastHempはこの度2年間の準備期間を経て、2020年5月1日に日本発 CBDウェルネス & ビューティー ブランド MUKOOMIを発表しました。

ミス・ワールド2016年日本代表の吉川プリアンカが、創立者・代表取締役として、コンセプト開発、デザイン・プロダクトディレクションなどを手掛ける MUKOOMI は、国際起業家のシャーダン・カルカッタワラ氏と共同創立した、国内初の“多様性”にフォーカスしたCBDウェルネス＆ビューティーブランドです。

名前の由来は、日本語の“向こう”と“見る”を掛け合わせたもので、その名前には“常識を超えた向こう側を見よう”というメッセージが込められています。それは、型にとらわれない多様性にフォーカスした新しい美の概念であり、相手との違いや既成概念が生む壁の向こう側を見ようというフィロソフィーでもあるのです。
国籍、年齢、性別に関わらず、誰もが自ら持ち合わせた輝く力に気づき 自身の可能性を見いだせることを願ってつくられたインクルーシブなブランドです。

日本でのCBDの立ち位置について #003
新しいことを始めるというのは、とてもエキサイティングなのと同時に不安もつきものです。そこで今日は、CBDをライフスタイルに取り入れてみたいと考えているあなたのために、CBDの基本知識と、日本国内におけるCBD事情を簡単にまとめてみました。正しい情報をシェアすることで第一歩を踏み出すハードルが少しでも低くなり、より多くの方にCBDの恵みを体験していただければと思います。

麻類作物・成分の名称と定義
まず最初に、CBDや麻に関しての名称とその定義のおさらいをしましょう。一般的に聞く「麻、大麻、大麻草、ヘンプ、マリファナ」は誤解を招きがちですが、実はすべて植物学的には同じものを指しています。しかし日本ではそれぞれの定義と一般的にもたれるイメージに細かなニュアンスの違いがあります。

麻：古来より使われる大麻草の名称。 多数ある麻類作物の総称としても使われています。

大麻：法律用語で、日本の法で規制されている大麻草葉の花穂と植物部位を指します。

大麻草：植物全体のことを指します。
ヘンプ：麻の英語名 (Hemp)、日本では主に産業の分野でマリファナと区別するために使われる単語です。
マリファナ：花穂を乾燥させてタバコとして喫煙する嗜好品。 日本では違法です。
カンナビノイド：100以上もある大麻草独特の生理活性物質の総称。 マリファナの主成分であるTHCはその内の1種類にすぎません。
THC：テトラヒドロカンナビノール、薬用の品種の主成分で、精神活性作用があります。

麻の実：麻から採れる種子のこと。七味唐辛子の薬味の１つとして使われています。

CBDは合法？日本で手に入るCBDの種類
日本でも、CBDの成分自体は合法です。しかし、薬事法の規制で線引きがとても細かいため、CBD製品を購入する際には注意が必要です。

まず、CBD製品に使われるCBDには ”CBDアイソレート”、”フルスペクトラムCBD”、”ブロードスペクトラムCBD” の、3種類があることを知っておきましょう。これは簡単に言うと、CBD成分の純度の違いです。

フルスペクトラムCBD には、日本で規制がかけられているTHCの成分が含まれるため違法とみなされます。CBDアイソレートとブロードスペクトラムCBD には、THCが含まれていないため、日本でも合法に使用することができます。

MUKOOMI was co-founded by entrepreneur Shahdan Calcuttawalla and Priyanka Yoshikawa. Yoshikawa was the first half Japanese half Indian contestant to win the title of Miss World Japan (2016) and is also an entrepreneur and a keen advocate for diversity in all its forms.

The name MUKOOMI is a play on the Japanese words 'mukou' (向こう) - beyond and 'miru' (見る) - to see. It means to see beyond typical beauty expectations, see beyond divides physical or metaphorical.
The debut range is gender-neutral and can be used by everyone. It features four CBD infused skin care products, including face cream, eye serum, skin serum, and hydrating facial toner, as well as CBD isolate drops crafted for consumption.

The company is also releasing regular blog posts - in both Japanese and English - to help educate Japanese consumers on the benefits and usage of CBD in daily life.

What’s the difference between marijuana and CBD?
Marijuana as most people know it and CBD come from the same cannabis plant; but they’re different. 
THC is the active ingredient in marijuana that makes people feel ‘high.’ THC is illegal in Japan, while CBD is a different chemical compound taken from the hemp plant, which doesn’t contain any THC and doesn’t leave the user feeling high. We’ve covered it in more depth over on our FAQ page.

Is CBD legal, and what types are available in Japan?
CBD by itself is legal, but Japan-based users must be diligent in ensuring what they’re using is ok. There are three types of CBD: CBD isolate, full-spectrum CBD, and broad-spectrum CBD. 
CBD isolate (the purest form) and broad-spectrum CBD contain no THC, so they are legal. Full-spectrum CBD contains THC and is not legal in Japan. 
MUKOOMI’s CBD products are entirely legal, and our oil is registered with the Cannabinoid Examination Committee of the Japan Cosmetics Association.

How much does CBD oil typically cost?
Quality CBD oil should be considered an investment in your wellness journey. Prices vary depending on the size of the product and the concentration levels of CBD in each oil. 
MUKOOMI’s 30ml CBD oil, for example, is 900mg, which places it in the mid-level concentration and makes it a perfect starting point for trying CBD for the first time. Expect to pay between ¥9,000- ¥13,000 for a similar product depending on the supplier.

What non-oil forms does CBD come in?
