First IOWN Rollout on the Hokkaido Ishikari to Tokyo Otemachi, Tokyo Route
Sales launch of dedicated water-cooled cooling rooms for GPU servers
Press Release
September 25, 2025
Ishikari Renewable Energy Data Center 1 LLC
The inaugural Ishikari Renewable Energy Data Center will implement NTT EAST’s All-Photonics Network (APN) as part of the IOWN framework, connecting Ishikari in Hokkaido to Otemachi in Tokyo. The first Ishikari Renewable Energy Data Center will leverage the APN - featuring high-speed, high-capacity, low-latency, and energy efficiency - for connectivity to Otemachi. This new network resolves longstanding challenges in distance and latency between Tokyo and Hokkaido, creating and delivering an environment where Otemachi—the heart of Japan's network—and Ishikari in Hokkaido can be used as seamlessly as neighboring data centers.
APN completion of construction is scheduled for August 2026.
In conjunction with the IOWN rollout, sales have commenced for one 2.4 MW section of the inaugural Ishikari Renewable Energy Data Center No. 1, repurposed as a dedicated room for GPU servers to address the surging AI demand. This section enables the adoption of a water-cooling system, allowing for flexible equipment design tailored to the user's specifications. As Hokkaido's inaugural dedicated GPU data hall, it will be provided to data center operators, corporate users, and AI companies planning to introduce water-cooling systems and GPU server installations in the Tokyo metropolitan or Kansai regions moving forward.
