ジョン・ハリガン 訓練・技能・技術革新担当大臣 来日 2016年10月1日～5日
STSフォーラムに参加
10月1日から5日にかけ、アイルランドからジョン・ハリガン訓練・技能・技術革新担当大臣が来日し、京都府で開催される「科学技術と人類の未来に関する国際フォーラム（STSフォーラム）」に参加し、科学技術分野におけるアイルランドと日本の協力関係を推進します。
10月2日から4日は、STSフォーラム第13回年次総会に出席し、アイルランドにおける研究開発の進展及び優先事項について、日本と各国の対談者らに説明する予定です。フォーラム会期中は、科学技術担当大臣円卓会議にも出席し、各国のカウンターパートに向けてへの演説も予定されています。
また、EU-日本科学政策フォーラムにも参加するほか、総合科学技術・イノベーション会議（CSTI）、日本学術振興会（JSPS）といった政府系の主要研究機関の政策立案者らとの会談を予定しています。
さらに大臣は、アイルランドでの研究に関心のある関西拠点の日本企業の訪問、関西経済連合会との懇談を予定しています。また、在日アイルランド商工会議所の主催行事に出席し、アイルランド企業、アイルランドと取引のある日本企業の方々と懇談します。
今回の来日に際し、ハリガン大臣は次のように述べています。｢今回の訪問は、科学研究開発の分野において日本とアイルランドとの力強く刺激的な関係をより深めるまたとない機会であり、関西地区におけるアイルランドと日本との活気あるビジネス関係を強調できることを、大変光栄に思います。｣

Visit by Minister for Training, Skills and Innovation, Mr. John Halligan T.D.

Ireland’s Minister for Training, Skills and Innovation, Mr. John Halligan T.D., will visit Japan from 1-5 October to participate in the Science and Technology in Society (STS) Forum in Kyoto and promote Ireland-Japan cooperation in the Science and Technology area.
From 2-4 October, Minister Halligan will attend the 13th Annual Meeting of the STS Forum in Kyoto. He will brief Japanese and international interlocutors on the progress and priorities of Irish Research and Development. During the Forum the Minister will address international counterparts at the Science and Technology Ministers’ Roundtable Meeting.
Minister Halligan will also address the EU-Japan Science Policy Forum and have meetings with key policy-makers from leading Japanese research-related Government Agencies, including the Council for Science, Technology and Innovation (CSTI) and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS).
The Minister will go on to meet with leading Japanese companies based in the Kansai region which have research interests in Ireland, address members of Kankeiren and meet a number of Irish and Japanese companies with business links to Ireland at an event hosted by the Ireland Japan Chamber of Commerce.
Speaking of the visit, Minister Halligan said: ‘This visit is a unique opportunity to deepen the dynamic and exciting links between Ireland and Japan in the field of scientific research and development. I am also delighted to be able to highlight the vibrant Ireland-Japan business links in the Kansai region.’
