本共同研究は2024年9月に締結された共同研究契約に基づき実施されており、2025年の初回マイルストーン達成に続き、契約締結からおよそ2年の間に2回連続で重要な研究開発目標を計画通り達成しました。今回の成果は、リボルナ独自のスクリーニング技術から見出されたヒット化合物を基に、将来、新薬候補に育つ可能性が高い有望なリード化合物が創出できたという、重要なマイルストーンです。
今回のマイルストーン達成により、リボルナは契約に基づくマイルストーン収入を受領するとともに、研究は次の研究段階へ進みます。

今回のマイルストーンは、2025年に成功したヒット化合物の同定に続く、リード化合物の創出という研究目標を達成したことを示すものです。今回見出したリード化合物を基に、医薬品として適切な化学修飾を施し、医薬品候補化合物の創製に進みます。共同研究開始以来、両社は密接な連携のもと研究を進め、当初計画に沿って着実な成果を積み重ねてまいりました。今回、連続してマイルストーンを達成したことは、リボルナが、単発的ではなく創薬価値を継続的に生み出す力を備えた技術を有していることを示す重要な実績となります。

Advancing Toward Development Candidate Selection While Demonstrating the Reproducibility of Reborna's RNA Drug Discovery Platform
Reborna Biosciences, Inc. (Headquarters: Fujisawa, Kanagawa; Representative Director: Koji Fuji; hereinafter "Reborna") is pleased to announce that it has achieved the second research milestone defined in its collaboration agreement with Kissei Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Matsumoto, Nagano; Chairman and CEO: Mutsuo Kanzawa; hereinafter "Kissei") in the field of rare diseases.
This joint research is being conducted under a collaboration agreement signed in September 2024. Following the achievement of the first milestone in 2025, the companies have now met two major R&D targets as planned within roughly two years of signing the agreement. The latest achievement marks an important milestone in which a promising lead compound-one with strong potential to develop into a new drug candidate-was generated from a hit compound identified through Reborna’s proprietary screening technology.
With this milestone achievement, Reborna will receive the corresponding milestone payment under the collaboration agreement, and the research will move into its next stage.
Significance of This Milestone
This milestone represents the achievement of the lead compound generation goal, building on the successful identification of a hit compound in 2025. Building on this newly identified lead compound, the research will now proceed to the next stage: the creation of clinical candidate compounds through further medicinal chemistry modification.
Since the initiation of the collaboration, Reborna and Kissei have worked closely together, steadily building results in line with the original plan. The achievement of consecutive milestones demonstrates that Reborna possesses technology capable of consistently generating drug discovery value, rather than producing a one-time success.
Reborna will continue to accelerate the creation of innovative small-molecule drugs targeting RNA, based on its proprietary drug discovery platform that leverages full-length, three-dimensional RNA structures found in the human body.
