Neural Pocket Launches First Overseas Branch in Singapore

Full-scale global deployment of Japanese "Edge AI" technology in Southeast Asia

Neural Pocket Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Roi Shigematsu), which utilizes unique "Edge AI" technology to analyze images and video for smart cities, has opened its first overseas office in Singapore. With the opening of the office, the company will collaborate with various global companies such as Huawei, NVIDIA, various financial institutions, and local government agencies to expand geographic coverage across Southeast Asia.

In regards to the development of smart city applications and the supply of "Edge AI" equipment, we are collaborating with Huawei and NVIDIA and jointly conducting business development. In order to accelerate local activities, the company is also working alongside Macnica Corporation, with which the company already has a stong proven track record in collaborating on AI projects in Japan. We will leverage Macnica Corporation's rich network established across Southeast Asia. 

We are also receiving full support from leading Japanese financial institutions and investors, including Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Mizuho Bank, Ltd., SPARX Asset Management Co., Ltd., the University of Tokyo Edge Capital Co., Ltd., Mizuho Capital Co., Ltd., and SMBC Venture Capital Co., Ltd. We will leverage their broad collective overseas network to accelerate geographic expansion.

From the academic field, we are receiving support from Professor Yutaka Matsuo from the University of Tokyo, who was also a visiting associate professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Mr. Ryosuke Tane (Executive Officer and Global Chief Strategy Officer), who holds an MBA from Stanford University and has worked at McKinsey & Company's New York office, has been appointed President of the Singapore Branch.

He then worked as a private equity investment professional at Bain Capital and was involved in corporate buyouts and management within portfolio companies. He then joined real estate tech venture OYO LIFE and led expansion across Tokyo and three other prefectures as Tokyo GM. He joined Neural Pocket in 2020. He holds a BS and MS from Nagoya University and an MBA from Stanford University where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar.

*The Singapore branch was registered on April 30, 2020. Physical operations are expected to commence once deemed appropriate with consideration to the current COVID-19 situation.
