英国大使 ジュリア・ロングボトム閣下より レッドボックスジャパンへの応援メッセージをいただきました

このたび、駐日英国大使 ジュリア・ロングボトム閣下より、レッドボックスジャパンの活

動に対する応援メッセージをいただきました。英国政府は「月経を理由に教育の機会を失

うべきではない」との考えを掲げ、2020年1月に「Period Product Scheme(生理用品支援制

度)」を開始するなど、女性と子どもたちの公平な機会を守るための施策を実施していま

す。

今回のメッセージは、日本においても月経に関する理解を広げ、必要な製品と正しい知識

へのアクセスを保障する取り組みを後押しするものです。

「英国でも日本でも、月経についての理解を広げる必要があると考えています。 未来を担

う子どもたちに公平なチャンスが与えられるよう、私たち大人がどのようにサポートでき

るかを考えなければなりません。 英国政府は「月経を理由に教育の機会を失うべきでは

ない」と考えています。 そのため、2020年1月に「Period Product Scheme(生理用品支援制

度)」を開始し、女子生徒が必要なときに学校で生理用品を受け取れるようにしまし

た。 この制度は、学校での月経に関する話題のタブーをなくし、障壁を取り除くことにも

貢献しています。 私は、日本でこうした障壁を取り除く活動をしているRed Box Japanの取

り組みを応援しています。 月経に関する正しい知識と必要な製品へのアクセスが保障され

る社会を目指していきましょう。」

レッドボックスジャパンは、学校・地域・企業と協働し、月経に関する正しい知識の普及

と、生理用品へのアクセス保障を通じて、すべての子どもたちが公平に学び、成長できる

社会の実現を目指してまいります。

Red Box Japan is honored to receive a message of support from Her Excellency Julia Longbottom, the British Ambassador to Japan. The UK government strongly believes that no one should miss out on education because of menstruation and launched the Period Product Scheme in January 2020to ensure that girls can access free period products in schools. This scheme also contributes to breaking taboos and removing barriers around menstruation.

Ambassador Longbottom’s message emphasizes the importance of expanding understanding of menstruation in both the UK and Japan, and of guaranteeing access to accurate knowledge and necessary products.

“In both the UK and Japan, we need to broaden understanding of menstruation.

We must think about how we, as adults, can support the next generation so that children are given fair opportunities.

The UK government believes that no one should lose access to education because of their period. That is why, in January 2020, we launched the ‘Period Product Scheme’, which enables schoolgirls to receive products whenever they need them.

The scheme also helps break down taboos and remove barriers surrounding menstruation in schools.

I fully support the work of Red Box Japan, which is tackling these barriers here in Japan.

Let us work towards a society where everyone has access to accurate information and the products they need.”

愛知県立岡崎高等学校卒、南山大学経営学部学士号取得
東京大学物性研究所上床研究室事務補佐員として勤務。宇宙素材ベンチャー企業との共同研究である高機能耐放射線性炭素繊維”BASH FIBER”事業参画。再生可能素材製造研究の補佐を担当。2019年12月に「レッドボックスジャパン」を設立し、生理用品の寄付を通した学生支援を開始。

尾熊涼一（レッドボックスジャパン共同創業者）

University of North Alabama（ノースアラバマ大学） 、University of Nevada Las Vegas（ネバダ州立大学ラスベガス校）経営学マーケティング学士号取得、国際的に展開する貿易業の経験を活かし、イギリス発祥の国際NGOレッドボックスを日本で共同創業。
