客員教授 William J. YeagerによるiU創立記念日特別講演を配信

情報経営イノベーション専門職大学（東京都墨田区、学長 中村伊知哉、http://www.i-u.ac.jp、以下「iU」）は、2021年11月11日に創立2周年を迎えます。それを記念して、iU客員教授　William J. Yeagerによる特別講演（オンデマンド）を配信いたします。本講義はiU生だけでなく、どなたでも視聴いただけます。

これまでのキャリアを振り返り、NASA（アメリカ航空宇宙局）でのミッション制御ルームでのネットワークオペレーション業務についてや、スタンフォード大学でのネットワークやパケットスイッチに関する研究、その後のシスコシステムズとの出会い、そしてこれからのコンピューティングや世界動向など、幅広いテーマについて語っていただきました。聞き手は、iU教授のエイドリアン・チェオク。

William J. Yeager

iU客員教授。コンピュータエンジニア、コンピュータサイエンティスト。その業績の偉大さから、「インターネットの父」と呼ばれる。
イーサネットプロトコル、IMAPプロトコル、NTT Docomoと共同開発したWAP モバイルインターネットプロトコルなど、コンピュータの進化に大きく貢献するたくさんの要素技術や、プロトコル、アプリケーションなども数多く開発する。iU開学当初より客員教授に就任。現在サンフランシスコ在住。

Special address from guest professor William J. Yeager celebrates anniversary of iU’s establishment

On November 11, 2021, the Professional University of Information and Management for Innovation (Sumida-ku, Tokyo, President: Ichiya Nakamura; hereinafter “iU”; http://www.i-u.ac.jp) celebrates the second anniversary of its establishment. To commemorate this milestone, a special address (on-demand) from iU guest professor William J. Yaeger will be streamed. This address can be viewed not only by iU students, but by all who wish to do so.

Yaeger speaks on a wide variety of topics ranging from his career to date, including his network operations in NASA’s mission control room, his research of networks and packet switches at Harvard University and his subsequent encounter with Cisco Systems, through to the future of computing and global trends, etc. The interviewer is iU professor Adrian Cheok.

• About William J. Yeager

William J. Yeager
Guest professor at iU. Computer engineer and computer scientist. Known as the “father of the Internet” thanks to the enormity of his achievements.
Has developed many protocols and applications as well as underlying technologies greatly contributing to computer evolution, such as the ethernet protocol, IMAP protocol and (through joint development with NTT Docomo) the WAP mobile Internet protocol. Has been a guest professor at iU since its establishment. Currently resides in San Francisco.
