タイにおける水素・アンモニアの需要調査およびアンモニア分解装置の安定稼働を実現するための実証研究について＜English Follows＞

～脱炭素化・エネルギー転換に資する我が国技術の国際実証事業における実証要件適合性等調査に採択～

東洋エンジニアリング株式会社（取締役社長　細井　栄治、以下、TOYO)は、株式会社JERA(株式会社JERA（代表取締役会長 Global CEO 可児 行夫 および 代表取締役社長 CEO 兼COO 奥田 久栄））、その子会社のJERA Asia Pte.Ltd.(CEO 甲斐 泉)と共同で、国立研究開発法人新エネルギー・産業技術総合開発機構（NEDO）の「脱炭素化・エネルギー転換に資する我が国技術の国際実証事業」における実証要件適合性等調査（以下「本調査」）に応募し、このたび、採択通知を受けましたのでお知らせします。

アンモニアは、燃焼時にCO2を排出しない脱炭素燃料であると同時に、分解（クラッキング）により水素を取り出せることから、水素を輸送・貯蔵できるキャリアの一つとして期待されています。早期の水素社会実現のためには、アンモニアから水素を取り出すアンモニア分解装置の水素需要への応答性や低コスト化が重要となります。

本調査は、3社が共同でタイにおける安定的な水素供給の方法と幅広い産業への利用普及の可能性を調査すると同時に、アンモニアから水素を取り出す技術や、水素を貯蔵する設備全体の最適設計手法を構築するための検証を行うものであり、事業期間は2024年度中頃からの1年間の予定です。

Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO, President and CEO Eiji Hosoi)  hereby announces that it has received notice of acceptance of its application, together with JERA Co., Inc. (Global CEO and Chair Yukio Kani and President, Director, CEO and COO  Hisahide Okuda) and its subsidiary JERA Asia Pte. Ltd.,( CEO Kai Izumi) for a grant as a New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (“NEDO”) International Demonstration Project on Japan’s Technologies for Decarbonization and Energy Transition.
 

Ammonia is a clean fuel that emits no CO2 during combustion and, because it can be decomposed (cracked) to generate hydrogen, is expected to be used as a carrier for hydrogen transport and storage. To quickly achieve a hydrogen society, it will be important to ensure that the ammonia cracking equipment used to extract hydrogen from ammonia is able to respond to the demand for hydrogen, and to reduce its cost.
 

For the current project, the three companies will jointly investigate methods of providing a stable supply of hydrogen in Thailand and the potential for its widespread use across a range of industries, while also verifying the technology for extracting hydrogen from ammonia through cracking and developing ways to optimize the design of hydrogen storage facilities. The project is scheduled to run for one year beginning from the middle of fiscal 2024.
