【活動レポート】アジア学院、「生き方を揺さぶる」インドネシアスタディツアー2026を実施。農村リーダーたちとの交流を通じ、持続可能な社会と多様性を学ぶ10日間

2026年2月19日から3月1日にかけ、アジア学院は、「体感！農村リーダーのくらし・生き方」をテーマに、インドネシア・北スマトラ州にてスタディツアーを実施しました。

2026年2月19日から3月1日にかけ、学校法人アジア学院（Asian Rural Institute）は、「体感！農村リーダーのくらし・生き方」をテーマに、インドネシア・北スマトラ州にてスタディツアーを実施しました。参加者10名と同行職員2名の計12名が、現地で活躍するアジア学院の卒業生たちを訪ね、自然と調和した暮らしやコミュニティ開発の最前線を体感しました。

■ ツアーのハイライト

1. 自然と調和する「ケニーズファーム」での暮らし（シボロンボロン） 最初の滞在先は、卒業生のフェニーさんと石田賢吾さんが営む「ケニーズファーム」。森全体がスーパーマーケットのような「フードフォレスト（食べられる森）」の中で、参加者は土に触れ、共に汗を流して農作業を行いました。地元の食材を自ら調理し、命に感謝する「食べることは生きること」を体感する日々となりました。

2. 溢れる熱気「Seed to Cup」コーヒー生産と農村ホームステイ（ナガサリブ） 続いて、コーヒー農家として生産者組合を牽引する卒業生、ガニさんとランピタさんの活動拠点を訪問。一杯のコーヒーができるまでの製造工程や生産者の苦労を学びました。また、参加者は現地の家庭に2泊のホームステイを経験。言葉の壁や水浴びといった文化・衛生環境の違いに戸惑いつつも、温かいもてなしを受け、一期一会の交流を満喫しました。

3. 世代を超えて受け継がれる「障がい者自立支援」（ヘパタ） アジア最大のプロテスタント教団「HKBP」の障がい者支援部門「ヘパタ」による活動を視察。先輩卒業生のオステンさんから後輩のジュンピーターさんへと受け継がれ、現在では6地域に拡大している「地域に根ざした自立支援活動」について学びました。現場で多様な障がいを持つ人々と家族に寄り添うランピタさんの姿や、昨年12月の水害復興に向けたカカオ苗の配布プロジェクトなど、誰も取り残さない社会づくりを目の当たりにしました。

■ 深い学びをもたらした「夜のリフレクション」と参加者の声 本ツアーの最大の特徴は、毎晩参加者が交代でリードして行われた「夜のリフレクション（振り返り）」です。非暴力コミュニケーション（NVC）を用いた対話や森の中での歩く黙想を通じ、年齢も背景も異なる参加者同士が本音で語り合いました。

[Event Report] Asian Rural Institute Concludes "Indonesia Study Tour 2026"

- A 10-Day Journey with Rural Leaders Exploring Sustainable Communities and Diversity -

From February 19 to March 1, 2026, the Asian Rural Institute (ARI) conducted its Indonesia Study Tour under the theme "Experience the Lives and Lifestyles of Rural Leaders!" A total of 12 participants (10 guests and 2 staff members) traveled to North Sumatra to visit ARI graduates actively working in their communities, immersing themselves in nature-harmonious living and the frontlines of community development.

■ Tour Highlights

1. Living in Harmony with Nature at "Kenny's Farm" (Siborongborong) The journey began at "Kenny's Farm," run by ARI graduates Veny and Kengo. Participants stepped into a "Food Forest"—an environment as rich as a supermarket—where they touched the soil, sweated through farm work, and cooked local ingredients together. It was a profound experience of realizing that "eating is living."

2. Overflowing Energy: "Seed to Cup" Coffee Farming and Village Homestay (Nagasaribu) Next, the group visited Gani and Lampita, who lead the local "KSU POM Humbang Cooperative." Participants learned about the hardships of coffee producers and the complete production process. They also experienced a 2-night homestay with local families. Despite cultural challenges such as bathing with cold water, the group was met with warm hospitality, creating unforgettable bonds around the dinner table.

3. A Legacy of Community Development: Support for the Disabled (Hepata) The group observed the community-based rehabilitation efforts of "Hepata," the disability support division of the HKBP (Asia's largest Protestant church). Participants were deeply moved to see how ARI's philosophy was passed down from a senior graduate, Osten, to Junpiter, who now oversees activities in six regions. Furthermore, Lampita's dedication to directly supporting disabled individuals and their families, alongside Junpiter's rapid-response cacao seedling project for flood-affected farmers, showcased a powerful commitment to a society where "everyone has a role."

■ Deep Learnings Through "Nightly Reflections" and Participant Voices The foundation of the tour's profound impact was the "Nightly Reflection" sessions. Led by a different participant each evening, the group utilized Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and walking meditations. By opening up, participants of diverse ages and backgrounds forged lifelong connections.
