The Shizuoka Prefectural Government has released short films featuring the “sacred faith” in and “artistic inspiration” of Fujisan as its themes!

A travel professional will navigate you through a “journey unravelling the new charms of Fujisan” to be enjoyed as a companion to the films.

この度、ロントラ株式会社は株式会社静岡博報堂が受託するショートムービーの企画制作を担当します。株式会社静岡博報堂は、静岡県から委託を受け、国内外の観光客や登山者に向けて、「富士山」の世界文化遺産としての価値の魅力を発信するため、富士山麓地域を舞台にした旅のストーリー仕立てのショートムービーをプロデュースしました。

LONTRA Co. Ltd. is proud to announce that it will be in charge of production short films produced by SHIZUOKA HAKUHODO Inc., which has been commissioned by the Shizuoka Prefectural Government to communicate the appeal of the value offered by Fujisan as a World Heritage Site to tourists and mountain-climbers from both Japan and overseas. For that purpose, SHIZUOKA HAKUHODO produced short films featuring the story of a trek set in Fujisan’s foothill region.

Some people think that Fujisan is solely something to be climbed. There’s a story I want such people in particular to hear.

はじめまして。全国各地の魅力を掘り起こし、旅の新しい価値を提案する「地域の魅力発掘家」の芝谷千恵子と申します。私は12年間、国内最大級の旅行メディアの編集に携わり、8年間は編集長として日本の観光の最前線を見つめてきました。現在は独立し、引き続き地域の宝物を再編集して届ける活動をしています。

Greetings. My name is Chieko Shibatani, a “discoverer of local charms.” My job is to unearth the appeal of places all over Japan and give a new value proposition for travel. I was involved in the editing of one of Japan’s largest travel media outlets for twelve years, eight of which I spent observing the forefront of tourism in Japan as Editor-in-Chief. Currently, I continue to reedit and deliver information on local sightseeing treasures in an independent capacity.

今回、静岡県が制作したショートムービーのナビゲーターを務めます。テーマは、富士山が持つ【信仰】と【芸術】という二つの側面。登山道に足を踏み入れる前に知っておきたい、富士山の「心」を辿る旅です。

I will serve as navigator for short films created by the Shizuoka Prefectural Government, the theme of which is twofold: the “sacred faith” in and “artistic inspiration” of Fujisan. The videos are a journey into the “soul” of Fujisan that I want potential mountain-climbers to experience before they set foot on the peak.

―なぜ【信仰】と【芸術】なのか―

富士山は、2013年6月、第37回ユネスコ世界遺産委員会において、「富士山－信仰の対象と芸術の源泉」の名称のもと世界文化遺産に登録されました。富士山は古来、荒ぶる噴火により神の住む山として畏れられ、遠くから仰ぎ見て崇拝されていました。その「畏れ」はやがて信仰を目的とした登拝の流行につながっていき、また、その雄大で美しい姿から芸術面でも多くの人々にインスピレーションを与えるなど、人々にとって身近な存在となりました。この山と向き合う豊かな心の中にこそ、世界が認めた本質があるのです。

-Why are “sacred faith” and “artistic inspiration” associated with Fujisan?-

In June 2013, Fujisan was registered as a World Heritage Site under the name “Sacred Place and Source of Artistic Inspiration” at the 37th UNESCO World Heritage Committee Meeting. Since ancient times, the peak has been feared as a mountain where the gods dwell due to its violent eruptions, and revered and worshipped from afar. That “fear” eventually tied into the popularization of the “Fujisan ascent” to profess faith to the mountain. Fujisan also became part of the everyday lives of people, inspiring many of them from an artistic perspective with its beautiful, majestic form. It is within this rich spirit of engaging the mountain that its world-recognized essence lies.

―富士山の「心」を映し出す3つのとびら―

全5話のショートムービーには、富士山の息吹が宿る静岡県各地の情景と、聖なる嶺とともに歩んできた深い歴史が刻まれています。このドラマをより深く味わっていただくために、魅力を紐解く「3つのとびら」を用意しました。

-Three doorways reflecting the “soul” of Fujisan-

Consisting of a total of five episodes, the short films contain scenery from across Shizoku Prefecture where the soul of Fujisan resides and the profound history that has progressed alongside the holy peak. To ensure viewers savor this drama on a deeper level, “three doorways” for unraveling the charms of Fujisan have been prepared.

第1のとびら：「鎮め、祈る心」を巡る

富士山は、荒ぶる神でもありました。人々が噴火を鎮めるために捧げた祈りは、やがて山に近づくための「登拝」へと昇華していきます。静岡県富士山世界遺産センター（富士宮市）を旅の起点に、富士山本宮浅間大社（富士宮市）や須山浅間神社（裾野市）、富士山東口本宮 冨士浅間神社（小山町）などの聖域を巡れば、信仰の歴史という一筋の光が見え、富士山が時代を超えて人々の精神を支えてきた「心の拠り所」であることが、静かに、そして深く伝わってきます。

Doorway 1: An exploration of “a soul of calm and prayer”

Fujisan was also perceived as a wrathful deity. Prayers dedicated by people to that deity in order to quell volcanic eruptions would escalate into the “Fujisan ascent” for the purpose of approaching the mountain. Go on a tour of sacred sites that include the Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine (Fujinomiya City), Suyama Sengen-jinja Shrine (Susono City), and  Fuji Sengen-jinja Shrine(Subashiri  Sengen-jinja Shrine) (Oyama Town), with the Mt.Fuji World Heritage Centre, Shizuoka (also in Fujinomiya City) as the starting point. This tour will illustrate a ray of light in the form of the history of worship of the mountain, making it quietly and profoundly clear how Fujisan is a “refuge for the soul” that has served as a spiritual anchor for people across generations.

第２のとびら：「美しさを慈しみ、仰ぐ心」に浸る

富士山は、遠くから見つめる人々のまなざしの中にも存在し続けてきました。三保松原（静岡市）から海越しに仰ぎ、竹採公園（富士市）では伝説に想いを馳せる。裾野市まで足を伸ばせば、揺れるススキの先にまた違う表情が見つかるでしょう。どの場所にも共通しているのは、人々が日常の中で慈しんできた、温かなまなざしです。その想いは時に芸術へと姿を変え、葛飾北斎ら絵師たちが圧倒的な美しさに突き動かされて筆を走らせる原動力ともなりました。かつて誰かが抱いた感動に、今の自分の心をそっと重ね合わせる…。そんな時空を超えた対話が楽しめるとびらです。

Doorway 2: Immersion in “a soul of cherishing and revering beauty”

Fujisan has also continued to exist over time in the eyes of people who gaze upon it from afar. Admire it across the waters from MihonoMatsubara pine tree grove (Shizuoka City). Picture the legends surrounding the peak at Taketori Park (Fuji City). Make your way to Susono City to discover yet another countenance of Fujisan beyond the swaying pampas grass. What all these locations share is the warm gaze with which people have revered the mountain in their day-to-day lives. Those sentiments have on occasion manifested themselves as art, with the peak serving as the driving force behind the creation of works of artists such as Katsushika Hokusai who were moved by its overwhelming beauty. In this doorway, it is possible to savor a dialogue that transcends space and time by gently overlaying your feelings as someone existing in the now with emotions that someone once experienced in the past.

第3のとびら：「夢や挑戦を受け止める心」を知る

 富士山は、人間の強い想いを受け止めてくれる、大きな「器」のような存在でもあります。 明治時代、私財を投じ命がけで山頂に気象観測所を築いた野中到・千代子夫妻。そして、参拝者の願いを先導し、支え続けた「富士山御師（おし）」たち。富士山麓に息づく彼らの記憶に触れるとき、富士山がどれほど多くの人々の「夢」や「挑戦」を静かに見守ってきたかに気づかされます。このとびらを開くことは、自分の中にある情熱を再発見することでもあるのです。

Doorway 3: Knowledge of “a soul that embraces dreams and challenges”

Fujisan also exists as a kind of great “vessel” that embraces the strong sentiments of people. In the Meiji era of Japanese history, married couple Itaru and Chiyoko Nonaka dedicated both their personal fortune and lives to build a meteorological observatory atop the mountain. Also present were the Mount Fuji “Oshi” who continued to guide and support the wishes of worshippers. Upon encountering the memories of those individuals, which remain alive in the foothills of Fujisan, you will gain insight into just how many people’s dreams and challenges were quietly watched over by the mountain. Opening this doorway is also a way to rediscover the passion that lies inside of you.

全5話のショートドラマでは、ふたりの旅人が静岡の地を巡り、富士山の奥深さに触れていく様子が描かれ、国内外の方に登山だけではない「富士山の本当の顔」を伝えています。登るだけでは感じることのできない、富士山の「心」に出会う旅へ。

This short drama made up of five episodes follows a travelling duo around Shizuoka, depicting their experiences with the profundity of Fujisan and conveying the true side of the mountain, one that goes beyond climbing it, to people from both Japan and overseas. Go on a journey on which you will encounter the “soul” of Fujisan, which cannot be felt solely by ascending it.

2000年に株式会社リクルート入社以来、旅行・観光業界をはじめ、人材・飲食・美容・学び領域など多岐にわたるメディアの編集業務に従事。旅行情報誌『東海じゃらん』では８年間編集長を務め、東海エリアをはじめ観光トレンドやカスタマー動向の分析、地域観光の魅力発掘・発信に注力。昨年3月に同社を退職後、『じゃらん』編集長を務めたメンバーで編集ベース「またたびや」を共同で発足。コンテンツ制作・編集、ブランディング・企画立案、講演・ワークショップなどの活動を行う。
