アジア学院学生の学びを伝える動画シリーズ「キャンパス実況中継」、3本目を公開。寄付キャンペーン「隣人とやさしく生きる」も本日23:59まで

"なぜ世界の農村コミュニティリーダーたちはアジア学院で学ぶのか"を伝える動画シリーズ「キャンパス実況中継」食品加工・飼料づくり・リトリートなどのテーマで展開中。

アジア学院では「なぜ世界の農村コミュニティリーダーたちは日本のアジア学院に来て、いったい何を学ぶのか」という問いのもと、学生たちのキャンパスでの日常を伝える動画シリーズ「キャンパス実況中継」のYouTube配信をアジア学院西日本研修寄付キャンペーン「隣人とやさしく生きる」と合わせて開始しました。これまでに公開した3つのテーマをご紹介します。

 

第1回：なぜ食品加工か（卒業生職員 ニックさん）

 

学生の出身地域の多くでは、収穫した作物がそのまま安く買いたたかれてしまう現実があります。食品加工によって価値と価格を高め、地域に自立した収入をもたらす取り組みを、卒業生職員のニックさんが語ります。

「学生たちの多くの地域では中間搾取に苦しんでいる現状があります。そのような中で経済的な持続性と自立がコミュニティに尊厳を取り戻すことにつながります」

 第3回：なぜリトリートか（パート職員 くりこさん） 

忙しく刺激に満ちたアジア学院での日々だからこそ必要な、豊かな自然の中での静かな時間。戦争や地域紛争の中に身を置いてきた学生たちに、この穏やかな時間を故郷へも持ってほしいという願いを、パート職員のくりこさんが語ります。

「もし学生たちがこのリトリートを体感し、故郷へ帰ってからも同じような穏やかな時間をコミュニティと共に持てたなら、私たちはこれ以上なく嬉しく思います」

■ アジア学院西日本研修寄付キャンペーン「隣人とやさしく生きる」本日9月30日23:59に終了！

8月1日に始まった寄付キャンペーンもいよいよ本日最終日を迎えます。期間中には、8月中にセカンドゴール220万円を達成し、最終ゴールを500万円に設定して以降も応援が続き、9月30日時点で支援総額3,222,326円（支援者241名、応援メッセージ204件）に達しています。

 寄付キャンペーン「隣人とやさしく生きる」について 

アジア学院の学生たち（農村コミュニティリーダー）が、教室を飛び出して広島・水俣・関西などを12日間にわたり巡り、平和、公害、多文化共生、有機農業などを現場から直接学ぶ「西日本研修」。彼らが自国に持ち帰り、地域社会に変化をもたらすための非常に重要なプログラムですが、昨今の物価高騰などの影響により、研修を継続・充実させるための資金が不足しています。これを乗り越えるため、8月1日よりクラウドファンディングに挑戦してまいりました。本日23:59に終了します。最終日、そしてこれからも、アジア学院の研修に引き続きお力をお貸しください。

Asian Rural Institute Releases Third Episode of Video Series "Campus Live Report" on Participant Learning ― Crowdfunding Campaign "Living Kindly with Neighbors" Closes Today at 11:59 PM

"Campus Live Report," a video series exploring why rural community leaders from around the world study at ARI, is currently unfolding across themes including food processing, feed production, and retreat.

Asian Rural Institute has launched a YouTube video series called "Campus Live Report," sharing participants' everyday life on campus, built around the question: "Why do rural community leaders from around the world come to Asian Rural Institute in Japan, and what exactly do they learn there?" The series launched alongside ARI's Western Japan Study Tour crowdfunding campaign, "Living Kindly with Neighbors." Here are the three themes released so far.

Episode 1: Why Food Processing? (featuring Graduate Staff Member Nick)

In many participants' home regions, farmers have no choice but to sell their harvests as-is, facing exploitation by middlemen. Graduate staff member Nick explains how food processing raises both value and income for these communities.

"In many of our participants' home regions, they suffer from middleman exploitation. Amid that, economic sustainability and self-reliance can restore dignity to the community."

Episode 2: The Banana Stem Turns into Feed (featuring Sean Snoxell, ECHO Asia Impact Center)

One of the agricultural techniques taught at ARI: turning banana stems, often discarded, into livestock feed. We spoke with Sean Snoxell of the ECHO Asia Impact Center about this resourceful practice.

Episode 3: Why Retreat? (featuring Part-Time Staff Member Kuriko)

Life at ARI is busy and full of stimulation — which is exactly why quiet time in nature matters. Many participants have lived through circumstances shaped by war or regional conflict. Part-time staff member Kuriko shares why ARI hopes participants can carry this same sense of calm back to their communities.

"So if our participants can experience this retreat, and go on to share that same kind of peaceful time with their communities after returning home, nothing would make us happier."

■ Asian Rural Institute's Western Japan Study Tour Crowdfunding Campaign "Living Kindly with Neighbors" Closes Today, September 30, at 11:59 PM!

The donation campaign, which began on August 1st, reaches its final day today. During the campaign, we reached our Second Goal of ¥2,200,000 in August, and after setting a Final Goal of ¥5,000,000, support has continued to grow — as of September 30, total donations have reached ¥3,222,326 from 241 supporters (with 204 messages of support).

About the "Living Kindly with Neighbors" Fundraising Campaign

The "Western Japan Study Tour" takes ARI participants (rural community leaders) out of the classroom for a 12-day journey through Hiroshima, Minamata, and the Kansai region to learn firsthand about peace, pollution, multicultural coexistence, and organic farming. It is a highly important program that empowers them to bring this knowledge home and create positive change in their own communities. However, due to recent factors such as soaring prices, we have faced a shortage of funds to continue and enhance this training. To overcome this challenge, we have been running a crowdfunding campaign since August 1st. It closes today at 11:59 PM. We are deeply grateful that, on the very first day, we reached our goal of ¥1,000,000 for Western Japan Study Tour transportation costs, and within twelve days, reached our goal of ¥2,200,000 covering lodging, food, and training costs. Asian Rural Institute has continued to exist because of the support of so many people.
