■ 課題と背景

ジェイテクトは自動車部品のステアリングや鉄道・航空機・半導体・鉄鋼など幅広い製造設備で使われるベアリング、工作機械の製造販売を行っています。

ジェイテクトの電動パワーステアリング

ジェイテクトでは、製造ラインで稼働する内製装置の設計・調達プロセスにおいて、3D CADで設計した後、部品調達のために紙図面を作成していました。紙図面の作成には時間がかかり、ミスが頻発していました。このためミスの発生を考慮したスケジューリングが必要となり、本来注力すべき設計の品質向上に十分な時間を割くことができないだけでなく、全体のリードタイムの長期化が課題となっていました。

■ JTEKT's Issues and Background

JTEKT manufactures and sells steering in automotive parts, bearings used in a wide range of manufacturing equipment (railway, aircraft, semiconductor, steel, etc.), and machine tools.

JTEKT's Electric Power Steering 

JTEKT's previous process for designing and sourcing parts for its proprietary equipment used on the production line involved drawing a design in 3D CAD and then producing　2D paper drawings. Creating 2D paper drawings was time-consuming and error-prone, and scheduling had to take the possibility of errors into account. Not only was it difficult to devote sufficient time to improving the quality of the design, which should have been the main focus, but the overall lead time was also an issue.

■ Impact of introducing meviy 

The introduction of meviy has enabled JTEKT to procure parts using only 3D data, allowing JTEKT to place orders instantly without having to create 2D paper drawings. This has greatly reduced the lead time for sourcing parts and accelerated the completion of equipment. In addition, by eliminating the errors associated with creating 2D paper drawings, the number of man-hours has been significantly reduced. By taking advantage of the time saved with meviy, JTEKT can now conduct tests for new structures and parts, improving design perfection.
