“bud brand” is a project that supports next-generation creators in presenting their work to

the world. Since 2016, it has continuously exhibited at Milan Design Week, and in 2026 it will again host the bud brand AWARD, a competition open to designers aged 35 and under.

Out of more than 120 entries, approximately 100 selected works—including product designs and spatial proposals—will be exhibited.

The exhibition venue for bud brand is located in the Tortona district, one of the most popular areas for corporate exhibitions during Milano Design Week.

Tortona is a highly vibrant area, home to well-known venues such as Superstudio, and is one of the most visited districts after the main fairgrounds.

In this area, under the name “Tortona Rocks,” various companies and independent creators

exhibit products and artworks across multiple venues.

Theme for 2026: “Hanging × Living Items”

Products that exist just above eye level—noticed in a fleeting moment—have the power to

uplift both mood and spirit.

We encourage the exploration of new product possibilities that respond to diverse lifestyles.

Looking up, aiming higher, feeling uplifted—many positive ideas are associated with notions

such as “up,” “↑,” and “reaching higher.”

In everyday life, products suspended from above can create new sensory experiences, bring convenience, and inspire subtle emotional shifts.

They can offer comfort, restore balance, and shape the way we feel.

This theme invites designs that gently influence emotions and enrich daily life.

10 works selected from 120 submissions will be exhibited.

At the bud brand AWARD 2026, 10 works have been selected from 120 submissions and will be exhibited.

The exhibition will feature the Runner-up Prize, Encouragement Prize, and Selected Works.

Bringing wood closer to everyday life.

Floors, stairs, furniture—choosing real wood instead of synthetic materials often comes with higher costs. Solid wood, in particular, is often seen as a luxury.

However, wood has long been a familiar material supporting everyday life in Japan—something that everyone, not just a privileged few, could enjoy.

As it once was, can we bring wood back into our daily lives?

And beyond that, can we deliver the rich qualities of this natural material through more accessible pricing and systems?

We believe it is possible.

Marutoku continues to take on the challenge of shaping that future.

Japanese craftsmanship enriches the exhibition space.

At the bud brand exhibition venue, Anonimo Design will once again collaborate this year to enhance the space.

A strings curtain inspired by wisteria flowers will be used to beautifully decorate the venue, expressing the theme of “hanging.”
